Itinerary

Day 1: Edradour - Blair Castle - Dalwhinnie

Day 1: Edradour - Blair Castle - Dalwhinnie

Travelling up the whisky smuggler’s route north to Speyside, our first stop will be EDRADOUR, Scotland’s smallest distillery, producing fine single malts on a farmhouse scale. Travelling further north passing BLAIR CASTLE where the pipes of Bonnie Prince Charlie are on show. The DALWHINNIE distillery is Scotland’s highest at 1073 feet. On arrival in Speyside, we see the SPEYSIDE COOPERAGE. Since 1947, this family owned business has produced the finest casks from the best American Oak. The cooperage continues to work and produce the age-old product, still using traditional methods and tools.

Day 2: Aberlour - Macallan - Cardhu

Day 2: Aberlour - Macallan - Cardhu

ABERLOUR is one of the most respected whiskies. After a detailed tour, you are able to hand-fill your own personally labelled bottle of Aberlour from a sherry butt or a bourbon barrel, each considered to be fine examples of the distillery’s style. The MACALLAN is Speyside’s best known heavyweight. Their fine collection of whiskies fetch up to$33,000 per bottle. Following a tour of the distillery, guests have the opportunity to sample the oaky, resiny, sherried flavours of the whiskies. Finally, we travel the short distance to CARDHU (Gaelic for “black rock”), the only malt distillery pioneered by a woman.

Day 3: Balvenie - Glenfiddich - Glen Grant

Day 3: Balvenie - Glenfiddich - Glen Grant

We start with a visit to The BALVENIE. The tour is an in-depth 3 hours tour in a distillery near the famous Balvenie Castle. The world’s biggest selling malt is GLENFIDDICH - the name which describes how deer run through the Fiddich valley. From here, we visit the exceptional WHISKY SHOP in Dufftown with its amazing array of fine and rare whiskies, before visiting our final stop for the day at, GLEN GRANT a Victorian classic with a fine garden behind the distillery. It has been a contributor to Chivas Regal for many years and is very highly thought of by blenders.

Day 4: Glenfarclas - Ballindalloch - Glenlivet

Day 4: Glenfarclas - Ballindalloch - Glenlivet

GLENFARCLAS boasts the largest stills in Speyside and has been an independent distillery since 1865. The mountain of Ben Rinnes rises behind the distillery and it is from this heather-covered area that the water is drawn. The whiskies are complex, malty and sherryish and some of the finest in the area. BALLINDALLOCH CASTLE is one of the most beautiful and renowned castles in Scotland, known as the Pearl of the North. It has been the home of the Macpherson-Grants since 1546. The River Spey runs through the grounds of this unspoilt family home. Our final distillery is GLENLIVET.
